Light commercial still rewards truck-ready kits — but throughput, airflow measurement adjacency, and recovery capacity matter more than a pure residential service bag.
Prioritize
- Recovery machine with published capacity / duty notes for larger charges (cite manufacturer docs)
- Vacuum pump CFM class matched to system size — verify micron under load
- Probe / manifold ecosystem that stays readable on rooftops and in mechanical rooms
- Airflow / psychrometry tools when your work includes TAB-adjacent checks (category later)
- Cart / dolly and bag strategy when weight leaves the backpack tier
Failure modes to watch
- Residential-only recovery gear undersized for the charge and time budget
- Ignoring published refrigerant-class compatibility on transition equipment
- Meters and probes that can’t be read in bright sun or dirty boxes
- Soft goods that dump organization when you’re hauling across a roof
